Deep Roots Birth and Wellness was born from the dream of offering birth and wellness services in our rural community. Kim, and the various members of her team, sought education in health and wellness through different meandering paths, ways, and trails. Ask us for our stories in person! Then we learned about each other and discovered our common passions and desire to help women in our home community.
We believe homebirth should be accessible, woman-led, mother-baby centered, and a normal family experience.
We partner with families navigating life and health in the childbearing years.
We offer individualized care for moms and their families.
Meet Kim
My name is Kim Brenneman. I am a Christ-follower, wife, mom, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. A lover of all things creative, I love to write, garden, cook, sew, decorate, and plan events in my home and am an out-of-the-box thinker who likes to ask “Why”. I love helping women create beautiful lives and facilitating the best birth possible.
I had my first baby at age twenty back in 1991. At that time, I didn’t know midwifery was even thing, I had only read about it in historical books and novels. I did know that babies and children are a gift from heaven and thoroughly enjoyed my years as a mom to little children (and now teen and adult children). I went on to have nine children and a variety of birth experiences! By the time I was pregnant with my sixth I had finally started to educate myself on pregnancy and birth and question the status quo at my provider’s office and the hospital setting. I also learned that midwifery is still a profession and, in fact, is the norm in some parts of the country and world; that a woman goes to an OB if she has health risk that indicates she needs more in-depth care.
Midwifery became a pet topic of mine and I began to read extensively on it in the following years. When my youngest was a preschooler, I trained to become a doula. My goal was to dip my toes in the birth world and see if I was truly being called to midwifery. I then started working with local midwives (they did exist!) and discovered at my first birth with them, that “YES” I love midwifery and there was no going back.
I worked in the local home birth world for a couple of years and began training to become a Certified Professional Midwife. Then we had a dramatic life shift and moved across the country. There, I chose to follow the Certified Nurse-Midwife route towards full practice which allows me to practice anywhere in the country, have a broader scope of care, and the ability to prescribe necessary medications if a situation called for it.
That broader scope of care that I learned through my advanced degree and studies I have done since then have contributed to my understanding of hormones and how they are so intricately and inherently woven throughout our lives as women. Learning from each and every client that I encounter has brought depth and understanding to our mutual struggles and challenges with our hormone health in this modern world.
Deep Roots Birth and Wellness is the culmination of many years of study, practice, and preparation. My goal is that every woman feel listened to, cared for, and empowered in her health journey so that she feels good, able, and fit to do what her unique calling is.
